WILDERNESS: DAY ONE ICELAND LAVA TREK

Tuesday, 5th July 2016. Today's the day!

I leave by plane at 1pm. To say I'm feeling mixed emotions right now is an understatement. I don't think I thought it through initially. The vastness of this adventure in the Wilderness.

Over the next five days all my senses, my mind, my body are going to be tested to the max. And I have no idea what to expect. Of the wild. Of the mountains. Of me.

The fact that I'm doing this for the NSPCC makes it a must, I'm committed to making this, raising the funds and living my values. To be able to give back is so very important to me.

So we arrive in Keflavik airport at 3pm (Iceland is one hour behind the UK). Then it is a four hour drive to our starting point. The landscape is lunar like and we will be passing Hekla - Iceland's most famous active volcano. Our first camp for the night - Landmannalauger. The heart of Iceland's thermal area.

Tonight we will eat dinner outdoors and bathe in the hot springs nearby.

Darkness is only for a few hours, so hopefully I'll have sweet dreams of what tomorrow will bring.

Love, aeroplanes and bobble hats,

P.s I'll be back to update the experience 'real time'! P.P.S You can read about each day, just click these links:
